In 1975 RJS developed the first bar code verifier. Since that time they have continued to be the forerunner in the bar code quality assurance arena. Other industry firsts include their 1977 analytical bar code verification system for assuring the quality of film masters; introduction and patent of their Auto-Optic scan head for ISO/ANSI verification standards in 1994, and a wide range of patented and proprietary technologies in subsequent years. Among these are patents relating to hand held bar code verifiers.

Axicon

Axicon is a world leading company in the field of barcode quality. For the past years Axicon have pioneered the use of a solid state system for barcode quality. Certainly the easiest verifier to use, the Axicon line of verifiers offer simple push button image capture and a simple Windows based user interface.

The standard Axicon verifiers are PC based which allows for the storage of reports and exporting data to Excel or other databases. For portable applications an industrial PDA is available.

Printronix

Printronix manufactures the SV100 and SV200 series online bar code verifiers. These units are ideal for inspecting bar codes real-time and to quickly identify any non-conforming product resulting in reduced scrap and waste. The units comply with the ISO/ANSI bar code quality process.

In 1999 they introduced their second generation SV Series on-line scanner/verifiers incorporating an Printronix designed and manufactured rotating polygon, precision analog laser scanner. This SV Series is a unique and economical high speed scanning system capable of calculating practically all industry-recognized verification methods including ANSI/ISO. The SV Series can now meet applications that were previously not attainable including high-density symbols and codes printed directly on corrugated material. Patents are in the application stage.
